Specs and Pricing for Class Association North Sails

Tanzer 22 Specs and Pricing for Class Association North Sails

All sails will have up to a maximum 22% discount on 2006 prices. 2006 prices shall remain frozen for the duration of our order. All white cloths are higher grades of Contender chosen specifically for the Tanzer line, (or Nordac, North’s own cloth, for the roller furling genoa). Contender is probably the leader in small keelboats right now. Buyers must be Class Association members to benefit from the deal. If you need to join still it’s easy and cheap, go to Class website. List prices for these sails are already low given the fast design and quality. These sails are of the speed and calibre to win a T22 one design championship. In fact, they already have. They were designed at North Canada’s Toronto Sail Loft. The optimizing of shape is all North, and it can make the difference! From my bit of experience measuring sails, North is the most consistent and accurate, dead on. Others could be off by small to large amounts. Many sailors and classes have shifted to North already for the great design and competitive regular price. The larger our order, the larger our discount will be. We are striving for the highest discount possible. That means someone buying a new suit of sails for a Tanzer could potentially save over a thousand dollars!

The given price discount shall increase with the number of sails our members order between now and February 9th. That is the final drop-dead deadline with no exceptions! We are concerned with getting finished in time for spring delivery. No charges shall be made until the final number of sails is known, and the final discount confirmed. At that time, you will be requested to give final approval to your individual orders from North. We have negotiated the terms collectively through the Association, but all transactions are individually made between yourselves and North Sails.

Discounts:

15% discount for all members of Tanzer Association
18% discount if Tanzer members order more than 25 sails
20% discount if Tanzer members order more than 35 sails
22% discount if Tanzer members order more than 45 sails

All of these prices are in Canadian dollars. Charges to credit cards are convenient. Charge is in Canadian currency. Your credit card company at the rate of that time will convert it if you reside in the U.S. I don’t believe any U.S. members paid tax or duty in last year’s order. Canadians outside Ontario do not pay their provincial sales tax.

This is an exclusive deal for the Tanzer Association’s members! If you aren’t a member yet, go to the Class Association’s website to join, and send me an email so I know. Help yourself by helping us get there.

UV cover white or blue.
(The best for durability is this Sunbrella cover. One can specify lighter material. It doesn’t stand up as well yet gives a nicer looking leech.)
Non-class sail. Must specify max luff length, furler type, drum height and direction of rotation.
Members can request other dimensions. Price may vary.

The above sails include specs, which are North’s recommendations for most racer/cruisers and, conform to all our class rules. Note the Polypreg resin treatment listed above. This is resin infused through the cloth, and is perhaps not quite as stiff as Polykote. However, it should keep the sail’s shape longer. Some hardcore racers may prefer Polykote, which is a coating instead of impregnation. However, if you’re expectation is a sail that will be less difficult to handle, and to last longer, go with the above recommendations. North (and I concur) believes this is the set up to satisfy a broad range of racers and cruisers. Members may choose different coatings, or a combination of coatings and weight. Please consult with me, and the Class Measurer to ensure custom sails conform to the rules.

Tanzer 7.5 and Tanzer 26 Specs and Pricing for Class Association North Sails

Members of the Class Association who sail the Tanzer 7.5 and the Tanzer 26 (and all other Tanzers) shall benefit from the same group sail purchase as the sailors of the Tanzer 22. That is better quality, better price. All sails will have up to a maximum 22% discount on 2006 prices. 2006 prices shall remain frozen for the duration of our order

These are not generic, economy sails. They are custom choices and custom detailing for the Class. All white cloths, which have a weight grading that includes a decimal point (example: 6.8), are higher grades of North racing cloth chosen specifically for the Tanzer 7.5 and 26 by North One Design Canada. The white cloths all have a denser tighter weave, with an impregnated resin that has a firmer finish than lower levels of economy cloths. If one were to look at cloth grades, these would be about the third level up. You cannot get better Dacron for these purposes. The 6.8 and 7.8 cloths are “High Aspect” weave, which is denser thread counts running up to better handle specific loads. The 5.8 is a more balanced weave for the loads expected of those sails. The spinnaker is also a higher grade racing fabric, and a totally different sail then the run of the mill. The same criteria of racing quality, cruising durability, and reasonable price applied to the selection for the Tanzer 22 were applied to these sails.

A 155% genoa was selected for those most commonly racing the 26 in PHRF. However, the actual original Class size for a genoa is about a 162%. This sail is available too. North has also made mylar genoas for these boats.

Beyond our group order, North will give the class membership a 10% discount at any time throughout the year.

North will endeavour to always have a limited stock available for quick delivery. Production of most will be for prior to season start.

Orders require a 50% deposit. We have North’s best possible price, and North will guarantee these prices remain in effect.

Sails are of course more than price. Durability, dependability, service, and tuning go a long way to enhance the product.

Owners of less common boats in the Tanzer line are also part of the sail purchase. Contact Paul and myself for specific product and pricing info.

Cheers,

Ralph

Happy New Year everyone!

If you own a Tanzer here is an offer that should make for a great way to get your 2007 season off to a super start. Your Tanzer Association is once again providing an exclusive deal from North Sails One Design in Canada. This offer is only for Tanzer owners who are members of the Class Association, and is open to all regardless of which country you reside in. Email me for the order form particular to your boat. If you own a Tanzer model other than the 22, 7.5, or 26, contact me, or Paul Davis at North, for details of your requirements and pricing.

Note that the prices indicated on the form are list prices. Members will receive a lower discounted price of at least 15%. If more than 25 sails are ordered, the discount will rise to 18%. If more than 35 sails are ordered, the discount will rise to 20%. If more than 45 sails are ordered the discount will rise to 22%. Last year, the Association’s group purchase was for more than 70 sails! If you live outside of Ontario, you will not pay provincial sales tax. If you live outside of Canada, I believe most if not all such members paid no tax or duties. In my experience, the shipping fees were inconsequential. No one’s order shall be processed until the number of sails and the corresponding final discount is known. You will then be contacted for confirmation and payment. The final (no exceptions) deadline to close and send our order is Feb. 9th, so order much earlier, so as not to jeopardize spring delivery!

These sails were especially designed to conform to high quality standards and the one-design rules of the Tanzer 22 Class Association. Sails for the other Tanzers are built to the same high standards. Only the highest quality cloths, construction, and fast shapes were acceptable to the Class. There are a lot of reasonable economy products on the market, or high priced quality, or other good buys. However, your Association and North has done a lot of the work for you! Please contact me, or Paul at anytime to learn more about the features, and materials used. It is also important to specify any non-standard equipment that could affect fit when making your order. Last year, there were few problems reported, but different equipment, or types of roller furling gear can make a difference. Paul’s contact info is on the order form, and my email address is ralphstocek@yahoo.com.

All the best for 2007!
